A service of Morning Prayer from homes 24 May 2020

Sunday after Ascension

In the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit

Amen.

Grace, mercy and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ be with you

and also with you

We have come together in the name of Christ

To offer our praise and thanksgiving,

To hear and receive God’s holy word,

To pray for the needs of the world,

And to seek the forgiveness of our sins,

That by the power of the Holy Spirit, we may give ourselves to the service of God.

Blessed are you, creator God
to you be praise and glory forever.
As your Spirit moved over the face of the waters

Bringing light and life to your creation,

Pour out your Spirit on us today

That we may walk as children of light

And by your grace reveal your presence.

Blessed be God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
Blessed be God for ever.

Lord God, our maker and our redeemer, this is your world and we are your people:

come among us, save us and set us free.

We have willfully misused your gifts of creation; merciful God:

forgive us our sin.

We have seen the ill-treatment of others and have not gone to their aid; merciful God:

forgive us our sin.

We have condoned evil and dishonesty and failed to strive for justice; merciful God:

forgive us our sin.

We have heard the good news of Christ, but have failed to share it with others; merciful God:

forgive us our sin.

We have not loved you with all our heart, nor our neighbours as ourselves; merciful God:

forgive us our sin.

God of love bring us back to yourself, forgive us our sins, and assure us of your eternal love in Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

The collect for the season of Thy Kingdom Come

Almighty God,

your ascended Son has sent us into the world

to preach the good news of your kingdom:

inspire us with your Spirit

and fill our hearts with the fire of your love,

that all who hear your Word may be drawn to you,

through Jesus Christ our Lord.

The Creed

Let us affirm the faith of the Church which Christ commissions us to share with the world

Do you believe and trust in God the Father source of all being and life, the One for whom we exist?

I believe and trust in Him.

Do you believe and trust in God the Son who took our human nature, died for us and rose again?

I believe and trust in Him.

Do you believe and trust in God the Holy Spirit who gives life to the people of God and makes Christ known in the world?

I believe and trust in Him.

This is the faith of the Church.

This is our faith. We believe and trust in one God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Amen

A service of Morning Prayer from homes 17 May 2020

6th Sunday of Easter

Grace, mercy and peace

From God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ be with you

And also with you.

We have come together in the name of Christ

To offer our praise and thanksgiving,

To hear and receive God’s holy word,

To pray for the needs of the world,

And to seek the forgiveness of our sins,

That by the power of the Holy Spirit,we may give ourselves to the service of God.

SAYING SORRY

Christ died to sin once for all, and now he lives. Let us renew our resolve to have done with all that is anti-life and say sorry, knowing God’s forgiveness is sure.

When we have not touched, but trampled you in creation,

When we have not met, but missed you in one another,

When we have not received, but rejected you in the poor,

Loving God forgive us.

May the God of love and power forgive us and free us from our sins, heal and strengthen us by his Spirit, and raise us to new life in Christ our Lord. Amen.

Blessed are you, Lord God of our salvation,
to you be praise and glory for ever.
As once you ransomed your people from Egypt
and led them to freedom in the promised land,
so now you have delivered us from the dominion of darkness
and brought us into the kingdom of your risen Son.
May we, the first fruits of your new creation,
rejoice in this new day you have made,
and praise you for your mighty acts.
Blessed be God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
Blessed be God for ever.

Darkness doesn’t win the day!

The Light has dawned, hallelujah!

Isolation itself will pass away!

Community thrives, hallelujah!

Death doesn’t have the final say!

Life lives on, hallelujah!
Christ is Risen! Hallelujah!

He is risen indeed, Hallelujah!

Reflection

The Creed

I believe in God, the Father almighty,

creator of heaven and earth.

I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord,

who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,

born of the Virgin Mary,

suffered under Pontius Pilate,

was crucified, died, and was buried;

he descended to the dead.

On the third day he rose again;

he ascended into heaven,

he is seated at the right hand of the Father,

and he will come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit,

the holy catholic Church,

the communion of saints,

the forgiveness of sins,

the resurrection of the body,

and the life everlasting. Amen.

The Lord’s Prayer

Our Father in heaven,

hallowed be your name,

your kingdom come,

your will be done,

on earth as in heaven.

Give us today our daily bread.

Forgive us our sins

as we forgive those who sin against us.

Lead us not into temptation

but deliver us from evil.

For the kingdom, the power,

and the glory are yours

now and forever.

Amen.

Intercessions led by James Ewins

…Lord, in your mercy

hear our prayer

The Collect of the day

God our redeemer,
you have delivered us from the power of darkness
and brought us into the kingdom of your Son:
grant, that as by his death he has recalled us to life,
so by his continual presence in us he may raise us to eternal joy;
through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord,
who is alive and reigns with you,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever.
Amen.

May the peace of God, which passes all understanding, keep our hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. Amen

Let us bless the Lord. Alleluia, alleluia.

Thanks be to God. Alleluia, alleluia.
